Adventure Begins
Hi there! My name is Jackie Lightfield and I have been curating field trips ever since I could walk. That’s me on the left, holding a guidebook and dreaming of writing guides to the world’s most fascinating places. Sometimes those fascinating places are in your backyard, and in my case, basecamp is in Connecticut. I’ve been exploring the winding roads of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut for decades. Light Field Trips is an offers a curated road trip for those days when you just need to get out and go, and explore a place in a day.

This vacation style means you don’t have to—can’t, even—spend hours poring over destination options, schedules, reviews, lists of things to do, and so on.
You simply get to show up and enjoy this unique travel experience, with the peace of mind that we have planned a stress-free and fun field trip for you!
Our mystery field trips are easy to do in a single day. They are designed to echo the iconic open road trips and offer a rewarding experience. We offer a few that can be done by train or subway, but we encourage the car experience so that you can fully explore.
With flexible itineraries and the freedom to go at your own pace, our field trips are perfect for solo adventurers or quality bonding time with friends and loved ones. Our carefully curated routes take you through scenic drives with plenty of time for self-reflection. Plus, you get the opportunity to meet people along the way.

Our Road trips are carefully curated with the idea that you can explore less-frequented spots you wouldn’t usually see whenever you want to.
While road trips do have expenses, we look for budget-friendly options and list the costs for each recommendation.
Most of our destinations have multiple historic sites, museums, and other educational attractions.
Visiting small towns and interacting with locals provides a unique cultural experience that is often different from attractions found on top ten lists.

Your field trip package includes an essential Before You Go guide, as well as a series of envelopes, each leading you to a delightful surprise destination on your road trip.

Each envelope contains everything you need to know on how to get to the surprise destinations, complete with unique suggestions, handy maps, insider tips, and captivating facts that will make your explorations fun and informative.
But don’t open them till you are ready to go; why spoil the surprise?
On the big day, you set out on your adventure by simply opening that first envelope and hit the road to your first surprise destination. Along the way, we’ve thrown in some ‘roadside recommendations’ to break up the driving time and make your journey even more enjoyable. We can hardly contain our excitement, and we can’t wait for you to immerse yourself in the wonder of our thoughtfully curated trips!
