Great food, great friends, great tunes, this is the kind of trip that lures you with the postcard of the open road and scratches your wanderlust itch. Kerouac and Steinbeck wrote for different generations about the cross-country trip, and like back then, it’s hard to imagine the leisurely drive to see America these days. So much of this generational life is filled with easy screen access to “seeing” anything everywhere. But if a cross-country trip is the epic example of the journey as a destination, then a slice of that dream, to hit the open road with the journey being the destination is a modern take fit into a one-day schedule.
